A System for Web Connected Printers – Un-Tethering the Printer From the Personal Computers and Making it First-Class Citizen On the Internet.

In this abstract we explained a way for printers to be directly connected to the web. It makes possible interesting applications wherein users can intuitively retrieve information from the web. Implementation at the backend with various Webservices based servers, their requirements and functions were mentioned.

Accessibility Verification Testing – Strategies and Results

Presently software products are consumed with users with disability.Hence they cannot use software’s that require the use of their limbs, vision, hearing or speech capability to use the computing system eg: Comand line interface .This poster wil be discussing the common challenges in software development cycle in the context of accessibility accessibility testin.These testing strategies and tools can also be used by any software developer while they develop any software products.
Sowmya Vijayalakshmi holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science . She is presently working as staff software engineer for AIX Functional Verification Testing and been into integration testing of system software products.She has 6+ years of experience in the area of Operating Systems. Her interest is in OS Security. She has published a disclosure in ip.com presented 4 international papers. She is part of the India Women Diversity network group and an active contributor to all Diversity Events. She has attended various diversity conferences including Grace Hopper Celebrations 2008 in Colorado and presented 2 papers in GHC 2009 in Tuscon.
Building a Custom Master Data Management Solution Using IBM Master Information Hub

The audience would learn the concept of Master Data and understand the need and value for custom Master Data Management solutions. The audience will also learn to define the end to end approach to build a custom domain leveraging IBM Master Information Hub. The audience will be exposed to the tools and techniques that are available out of the box in building a custom domain using IBM Master Information Hub.
Chitra Iyer is a member of the Master Data Management Server (MDMS) team of IBM India Software Labs and is primarily involved in Development and Accessibility Verification Testing. She has contributed to developing a Sample Location Domain using the Master Information Hub. She has also worked on Master Data Management for Product Information Management (MDMPIM) and in the integration of MDMPIM and MDMS. She has completed Master of Computer Applications from Gujarat University in 2004.

Common Test Framework is an automated testing framework designed to reduce the Qualification costs without compromising on Quality. The goal was to have a single test framework which would be used by multiple teams and leverage each other’s work. The framework provides Product and platform independence of tests.
I grew up in Bangalore. Did my schooling and engineering in Banglore. Graduated from PES Institute of Technology with a degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2002 and started with Wipro Technologies in 2003. After a couple of years i joined Hewlett Packard, IPG group. As a part of the IPG group in Hewlett Packard, i have been involved in challenging projects working on the latest technologies for the last 5 years. Qualification has been my area of focus. Apart from work, I enjoy travelling and reading books.
Enhanced Ambient Light for Television

Ambilight technology emits colored backlight around the television to enhance viewing experience, the emitted color being derived from the dominant color on the display. In this paper, we propose that in order to provide more flexibility, characteristics of light may be encoded in the audio video stream itself to control lighting elements associated with the television, to enhance immersive viewing experience beyond ordinary. Such stream-based encoding paves way for futuristic entertainment.
Radhika joined NetApp as a New College Grad last year. Her project related reponsibilities include working on tooling and processes to streamline test automation. Prior to that, in college, she worked on a variety of projects ranging from Cryptology to Graphics. She’s upbeat, positive and dependable, with a strong desire to achieve something unique. She has great enthusiasm and passion for writing and travelling, and of course, has a wild imagination!
Integrated Smart Grid Communications and IT Infrastructure Management

Utilities are heavily investing in communications and IT infrastructure to integrate Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) networks and existing power grid communications infrastructure inorder to realize Smart Grid. We discuss about complexities involved in Communication infrastructure and IT asset management and propose an architectural framework to address these issues.

Interactive Computing Optimization using iSHARP (interactive System Health Allocation and Resource Productivity) Indicator

Intel uses large distributed collections of computers in order to process microprocessor design and related tasks. As designs complexity grows, amount of compute cycles required can grow geometrically. Cost of buying new computers not just results in direct Hardware costs but also grows with datacenter space, cooling, power, carbon emissions. The objective of iSHARP was to optimize existing resources usage while eliminating unnecessary resources which contributes overall cost and carbon footprint.
Sharmila Raman is the Program Manager for IT Lab support team in India. She did her Masters in Computer Science from California State University, Sacramento. She has been in Intel for last 14 years. She has worked in several areas including Interactive computing, EDA CAD support and Application development. She has 2 kids and enjoys spending time with them.

In software engineering, software configuration management (SCM) is the task of tracking and controlling changes in the software. The tool in discussion facilitates faster, better and reliable knowledge management and reporting of SCM information.
The Code Submittal Management Tool is highly flexible, scalable tool and preserves the software changes for different releases of various projects in an organized manner and allows access to the required information in desired format.
The author is a Bachelor of Technology graduate from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. Have around 5 years of industry experience in Software Configuration Management. Currently working with Hewlett Packard as a software configuration management engineer. Has good knowledge and experience in ClearCase, Subversion, StarTeam and wrappers on internal SCM tools. Have implemented various build Tools like Electric Commander in several projects and done automations in build and release management. Have rich experience in build applications like makefiles, ant, shell and perl scripts. Have good communication and team management skills.
Reference Data As A Service

When reference data is available as a service, customers can focus on their primary business and need not concentrate on managing aspects of data storage, accuracy and backup. This technical work would enable the audience to leverage the available information management products and infrastructure services to provide Reference Data as a Service. They will obtain knowledge of easy steps, best practices and principles involved in realizing Reference Data as a Service.

Swath-Based Skew Correction

This paper proposes a method for robust embedded skew detection and correction along with frame removal which work on horizontal image stripes. The detected page can accurately predict skew remove frame without loss of any content in a progressive manner, enabling efficient pipeline based processing. Upon accurate skew detection, rows of the image are rotated. This enables the document to be printed, even as the remaining document is being scanned.
Vandana is working as system/software engineer at Imaging and Printing Group division of HP. She has over 3 years of experience in the areas of Digital Image Processing and Pattern Recognition. She joined IPG in July, 2009. Prior to that she worked as consultant at HP Labs, India. She has a degree in MS by Research from IIIT, Hyderabad.
Test Process Improvements

Test Automation is critical to the success of any software testing effort. This abstract details the results that were achieved by making some changes to the automated script development process. This solution can be used for most of the projects where tests need to be automated in a very fast pace and at the same time ensure that the scripts are stable.
Nandini works as a Test Specialist at Hewlett Packard. Nandini has deep expertise in the Software testing space and has been in the software industry for over 8 years. In her current role, she is involved in qualifying an enterprise level middleware product/library by performing API level tests, solution tests, functional-performance tests and test automation. Prior to joining HP, Nandini worked for Mphasis BFL as a Test Engineer. Nandini graduated with a Computer Science degree from BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore and then went on to do an M.S (Software Systems) from BITS, Pilani.
